“Somatic Resourcing; Psychotherapy Through the Body”
This lecture will explore body-based resources and their practical usefulness in psychotherapy. Therapeutically, resources are defined as those actions, awarenesses, and abilities that support a person in maintaining a sense of self and a feeling of competency, regardless of what is occurring in his or her environment. Psycho-Physical Therapy is a resource-based model of psychotherapy. This means that the central focus of the therapy is on supporting a client in developing the capacity to create new options for successfully dealing with the issues he or she brings to therapy.

“Physicalizing the Psychotherapeutic Process”
Physicalizing is the therapeutic process of giving physical form to a client’s psychological and emotional manifestations or an exaggeration of the physical form those issues currently take. This lecture will explore how the physical form, shapes, postures, movements, gestures, etc. of a person’s body, both reveal and influence the deeply held habitual patterns that are the foundation of self-perception. Through a process of exaggeration and studying the physical form of a client’s psychological issues a greater focus, clarity, and insight into that client’s psycho-physical organization is created. Thus access to the client’s core patterns is increased. Physicalizing can be utilized at many different stages of the therapeutic work. It is commonly used when accessing and deepening into core organization or when an integration process is being explored.
